Melrose and Area

Nearby Melrose has an extensive range of shops and restaurants for you to enjoy on your visit and to suit every taste. If you'd rather some peace and quiet take a stroll along the River Tweed or scale the imposing Eildon Hills!

Melrose also has a rich history, with architectural attractions, museums and exhibitions including the oldest continuously inhabited village in Scotland. The Heart of Robert the Bruce is said to be buried in the grounds of the magnificent Melrose Abbey and Sir Walter Scott's Abbotsford House is just minutes away.

Melrose is also great for sport lovers with the famous Melrose Rugby Football Club founded in 1877 (the home of the original seven a side rugby tournament). Tennis, bowling, cricket and golf are all catered for and families will love the delightful Gibson Park with children’s play area.

The other Border towns are all nearby - each offering something different and if sand castles are the order of the day, the coast is less than an hour’s drive away.

River Tweed Fishing
The Tweed is best known as one of Scotland's premier salmon rivers. Fiorlin accommodation is situated within easy reach for this activity.

Scottish Borders Golf
Situated right in the centre of the South of Scotland, Melrose is the ideal base for a golf break. There are many courses to choose from including Melrose, St. Boswells, Minto, Peebles and of course the championship standard Roxburghe Golf Course. You can take advantage of the excellent Freedom of the Fairways scheme.

Scottish Borders Walking
Fiorlin Bed & Breakfast is an ideal base for walks. The town sits at the foot of the triple-peaked Eildon Hills and at the heart of superb walking country. Just outside Melrose to the east is the site of Trimontium, a major Roman fort, while to the west Abbotsford House, the former home of Sir Walter Scott, can be visited.

Cycling

There are miles of quiet country roads to enjoy whether you like flat or challenging climbs, as well as Innerleithen down hill track or the thrills of Glentress forest tracks.

So, for a quiet relaxing break, or some outdoor pursuits Fiorlin Bed and Breakfast Scotland is the place to come.
